As I have previously stated I have booked my one one ticket from Melbourne to Phnom Penh on the 26th of June 2018. This means I have from date I have about 6 and a half months before I leave. Well do you want to know how much money I have saved? Because I don't.
Lets just say that at this moment I have less than $500 in my bank accounts. I'm living from pay check to pay check which actually really sucks considering I get paid every two weeks.. I have worked out roughly that I can get away with spending $50 USD per day. Which over 5 and a half months is about $10,164.
So to be realistic here I have no savings, I'm leaving in 6 and a half months. It's coming into Christmas and I'm not gonna be working for a couple weeks so technically I will have 6 months to save $10,164 which is about $423.50 per week I need to SAVE. Wow this has been a wake up call writing this post.. However I am still determined and I will do this.
Considering with my current job I earn $534 per week working a full time 38 hours. Sorry I literally just went and done a quick hunt for other jobs in my area to get better pay, I'm applying for almost anything that pays better. I do have another job that I work out of my full time work hours but the shifts vary a fair bit, last week i worked four shifts and got paid over $200 which is good extra cash but the week before I only worked one shift which was only an extra $40 so I can't rely on that money to help me out too much.
So my master back up plan come to the TEFL course. I have figured that if it's coming up closer to my trip then I'll travel what i can on my savings while keeping a look out for a TEFL job overseas. I know it probably won't be that easy but at least I'll have something to back me up rather than just going broke and going home 3 months before I was suppose to. This way I will still get to live in a beautiful warm country and spend my days with amazing children so I'm happy either way.
My wonderful mother actually paid for my course as my Christmas present which is even better. I have completed 2 units so far and I have 6 months to complete the whole course however I'm hoping to get it done within a month or two so I can keep my focus on my blog.
So I am going to complete this course so i have something to fall back on if my saving doesn't go to plan. I did just apply for a bunch of jobs so I'm maybe I'll get one that is better paying and I'll save up the money in no time, who knows right?
